CLICK HERE TO GLIMPSE MAKUZI HISTORY
In 1992 Jane Jackson first discovered the beautiful Makuzi bay while running trips to the nearby Mission site. The Chief of the village offered her the opportunity to begin a dream here. She moved here by the end of 1992 with her family and began the dream. In the beginning, times were very tough as even the road from Dwangwa to Nkhata Bay was still a dirt road and made the 110km shopping trip to Mzuzu a 3-day adventure! Sadly 4 years later on October 11th 1997 Jane died in a para-gliding accident aged 45, before completing Makuzi. She is now buried in the Mission graveyard. Des and Lara, her children, stayed on and completed Makuzi Beach. Tony and Denise Jackson (their father and his wife) joined them as partners in 2000 and helped take Makuzi to the next level. They returned to the UK after a few years where sadly Denise passed away in 2008. In 2000 Lara married Brett Pollard and they lived at Makuzi until 2010, whereupon they moved to the city with their 2 boys, Kyle and Ryan. They are all still firmly entwined with Makuzi Beach and their dream of Makuzi being a place of Paradise and Peace is still their number one objective...
