

"A JOURNEY THROUGH SPICES"
Harvest fresh ingredients from Malawi’s first spice garden, learn to prepare a seasonal meal, and enjoy a private Chef’s Table dinner overlooking Lake Malawi.
This unique culinary experience begins with an early morning walk through the gardens at Makuzi Beach Lodge and Rift Lake Spice Co., where guests harvest fresh herbs, spices, fruits, vegetables and other seasonal ingredients grown on the property.
After breakfast at the lodge, guests join the cooking session in our private home kitchen at around 10:00 AM. Together, we prepare a seasonal three-course meal while learning cooking techniques and flavour combinations inspired by ingredients harvested from the gardens.
Guests then enjoy a relaxed afternoon at leisure before returning at 4:30 PM for sundowner drinks and the final preparation of the meal. The experience concludes with a private Chef’s Table dinner on a balcony overlooking the breathtaking waters of Lake Malawi.
Menus are tailored to guests’ preferences, and dietary requirements or food dislikes should be advised in advance.
Each guest receives an apron and a recipe booklet from the A Journey Through Spices experience as a keepsake.
